Virus and Antivirus

23/02/2014 16:51

Every day over a million files with viruses are transferred via emails and infect our servers and workstations.
In order to avoid infection we need to have a good and updated Antivirus program installed on our Servers/workstations or install an antivirus on mail server that will filter the infected emails.

The above will protect us only in 85% of virus files the rest of 15% it is users responsibility.

Here some friendly advice that most of the users do not follow:

1. THE ATTACHMENTS WITH .EXE EXTENTION OR MULTIPLE EXTENTIONS SUCH US
.PDF.EXE ETC ARE VIRUS FILES DO NOT OPEN IT

2. IF YOU RECEIVE AN EMAIL FROM A KNOW RECEIPIENT, DOES NOT MEAN IT IS 100% SURE THAT IS A CLEAN EMAIL.

3. HAVE IN MIND IF YOU OPEN AN INFECTED FILE THAT WILL NOT INFECTED ONLY YOUR PC BUT THE ENTIRE NETWORK WITH SERVERS AND OTHER PC’S.

4. ALWAYS ADVICE YOUR IT DEPARTMENT IN CASE YOU HAVE A SUSPΙCION THAT AN ATTACHMENT MAY BE VIRUS BEFORE YOU OPEN IT .

5. DURING CHRISTMAS OR EASTER SESSION A LOT OF VIRUSES ARE TRANSFERRED WITH ELECTRONIC CARDS DO NOT OPEN THE FILES IF YOU ARE NOT 100% SURE .

Always Have in mind that first a virus created and then the antivirus program found the cure .
Avoid to download free antivirus programs from web sites because in the most cases is a virus or Trojan or program will cause our pc to run slow.
Better to buy a professional antivirus program that will save you more money than money that you will lose by destroying your work.
